This space has served us pretty well so far in testing our waters and exploring SPLRG opportunities. We’ve played with offering deals, broadcasting sales and have connected with great people in Vancouver through SPLRGing. We have been focusing our time toward the development of a simple iPhone app over the past few months, with the help of Vince Hodges at Pennyminder, and we hope to have that mobile piece of the puzzle up and running in the new year (for Vancouver only). What better timing to share and receive great deals in your hood then when those holiday credit card bills start rollin’ in - Ack!

It’s been a fun ride thus far at SPLRG…. We’ve had enough meetings to last a lifetime and know that it’s just the beginning, we’ve been testing and configuring our “make-shift” model in our head (partly why this blog was created in the first place), we’ve learned a ton and we’re still having a lot of fun with it all.

There are a few things that are pretty exciting happening right now: 1. our iPhone app prototype is being built. That’s always a nice thing to be able to say. Thanks to this talented developer. 2. We made it into Round 2, but not quite into Round 3 of New Ventures BC competition, which we are quite proud of (and we learned a lot), and 3. we’re running a small user-test through a Facebook group to check out the conversion of one of the components of the application. And we have over 100 people signed up in Vancouver to play along, so that’s tremendous without really trying too hard yet….

This blog was initiated for a number of reasons. We’ve used it as a space to pass through content from Twitter SPLRGES to, again, test things out for ourselves mainly, and it’s also now a place for us to share and document our “outword” growth. (The inner growth is documented and coming to a rich, juicy book someday down the road.)
